Appomattox Oyster & Seafood Festival

APX OysterFest

PRESS RELEASE:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, and in order to conform with State & Federal health guidelines concerning the Wu Han Virus regarding the canceling/postponing of events, as well as reducing our social interactions of groups larger than 10 people, we make the following announcements.

Although we must abide by these guidelines, being a non-profit, we are reliant on our events to raise the funding needed to operate, but first and foremost we have a responsibility to also help ensure the safety of our patrons. We are therefore postponing our Appomattox Oyster & Seafood Festival, originally set for Saturday, April 18, 2020, until it is again safe to reschedule the event.

Any sponsors or vendors already committed to the event will be given the opportunity to have their money refunded or held until the event reschedules. We will also cancel our monthly membership meetings, getting information to members through email instead. We must also postpone the opening of our Old Jail Museum in Courthouse Square and our Clover Hill Village Living History Center on River Ridge Rd, both originally set for the first weekend in April, until it is safe to allow the public to gather without restrictions.

We will update the public through our Facebook pages and our website, AppomattoxHistorical.org. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience these postponements/cancellations may cause.

Keep healthy!

****************************************************

The Appomattox Oyster & Seafood Festival is an event sponsored by the Appomattox County Historical Society as a fundraiser to help the organization gather & preserve Appomattox County history.

This year's event is being presented by State Farm Insurance, Sarah Saunders Agency, in downtown Appomattox.

The event will feature live music all day, craft vendors, wineries, breweries, and distilleries, providing the ingredients for a fun-filled event! "Tasting" Tickets ($15 in advance, $25 at the Gate) allow for the (free) tasting, drinking and purchasing of alcoholic beverages; non-drinking tickets are $10 and are basically "General Admission" for those 13 yrs & older; kids 12 & under are $5, while kids 6 & under are FREE.

There will be games & activities for young & old! Food vendors will have a variety of seafood, including fresh Virginia Oysters, crab cakes, gumbo, fish, and for those who would rather be different, we will have BBQ, Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Kettle corn and other delicious foods!

Tickets, when available, will be sold through our website, AppomattoxHistorical.org, as well as local ticket outlets.

This event is a perfect solution to that "cabin fever" and is one of the first Virginia events of the year!

Come join us, Saturday, April 18th 11a-6p!
